Milan, Italy, Day two
Poor Grace had to get up and go to work today, while the rest of us had a leisurely morning before hitting the shops in the city.
Milan CBD has a great feel to it. It’s great popping out of the metro station and being faced with the amazing Duomo. Then the huge, beautiful Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II sits just to the left then lots more lovely shops everywhere in sight. First stop, sunglasses. Yeah yeah, I can see you all shaking your heads! Then Simon and Jase headed off to get a shave and left me at the shops. The shops have started getting their Winter gear in which doesn’t really appeal when it’s 30 degrees outside. I did manage to find some dresses, which I needed of course! Jase had had enough by this stage so Simon and I went and had lunch at a lovely restaurant on top of the huge shopping centre there. It had a great view of the many ‘spikes’ of the Duomo. The food was also really yummy!
We then decided to climb the Duomo. It was a piece of cake compared to some of the others we’ve climbed lately. At the top you were able to around and see many of the ‘spikes’ and detail in the sculptures.
In the evening we all went out for drinks and free food again. This place was a little more up-market and had people working behind stations making us omlettes and other goodies on request. There was a seafood station with some really good prawns and the cheese station was a winner too! We had some French champers to celebrate our engagement (again! :)) then I had a really good cranberry cocktail.. Or two.. yum! Our waiter was the world’s crapest waiter but the enthousiasm of workers in Italy is at an all time low so we aren’t suprised by anything anymore! Never the less it was a lovely evening, catching up with Jase and Grace with lots of laughs! Thanks for having us stay guys! We would have loved to stay longer, Milan seems like a great place to live. Off to Berlin next on our last ever Easyjet flight! Now that’s exciting! Katie :)
