San Sebastian, Spain, Day two
We started the day with Spanish donuts (churros) and pastries. Think we should have booked two seats each for the way home at the rate we are going! The day was pretty wet and overcast (it appears that the plain is not just where the rain falls here, haw haw), so Katie decided that the morning could be well spent at the shops. She felt quite at home browsing through Zara and made a couple of...

San Sebastian, Spain, Day 1
We were sad to say adiós to Barcelona after a great couple of days there. Would be good to go back after August so more places are open. We found all tapas bars that were recommended, were closed in August. Guess they do that to avoid us tourists! Today we had a short flight from Barcelona to Bilbao. We figured we’d find a bus from there to San Sebastian. It couldn’t have been...

Our last day in Barcelona
Hola! Rain was forecast for Barcelona but we woke to a perfectly clear day- just gorgeous! After a breakfast of bread, ham, cheese and pastries we headed down to Parc Monjuïc. We had a wander through the Olympic stadium before catching a cable car to Monjuïc castle. The view of the city and coast from the cable car were brilliant! The castle also had great views of the city and coast, as well as...

Barcelona, day two
Starting with the first of probably many hotel breakfasts, we then headed out to explore Barcelona. We travelled mostly on the metro, which was simple to use and frequent. First stop was Parc Güell, where Antoni Gaudi designed and constructed a large park. I’m pretty sure Gaudi was using some decent narcotics at the time, but the park is amazing, with winding paths and viaducts leading to an...

Hong Kong-London-Barcelona disaster flights and...
After catching a nasty bug in Hong Kong I suddenly felt very ill while waiting for the plane to London. Being midnight, I wasn’t sure if I was just over tired or actually coming down with something. The fact that I was throwing up before we’d even taken off answered my question. Poor Simon had to hold the bags during take off. Oh dear. He’s a good sport! Spent the next few hours...

Day 3
It was a bit of a slow start today with the thought of facing the heat holding us back. Lorraine (our WONDERFUL host) took us out to ‘country’ Hong Kong. We got a taxi to a small fishing village, Sai Kung. It was wonderful seeing how so many people live outside the hustle and bustle of the city. We went up and around so many hills and saw the greener side of Hong Kong, which was great....

Day 2
After a good sleep we headed out to yum cha (drink tea) and ate dim sum (small pieces of food). We ordered about 10 different plates to try and it came to a total of 5 Aussie dollars each- bargain! It was all really delicious! Simon particularly enjoyed his favourite, BBQ pork buns. Leigh and John headed to china for the day, while Lorraine, Simon and I hit the shops! We headed to Mong Kok where...

Hong Kong
Day 1 Sooo hot! We arrived in Honkers at 6:55am after a good flight with Cathay Pacific. Simon, (lynelle’s fiancé) asked him mum, who works at the airport if she could get us upgraded. No upgrade but free food & drinks in lounge before flight, good seats on plane and our luggage went business class so it came out early. It was a nice start to the trip. We probably had 2-3 hours sleep on...
